Ruceru is the brainchild of Ruchi Roongta and Rashi Agarwal who launched the brand for their sheer love for fashion. Both the designers were heavily inspired by their mother for her innovative ideas and excellent embroidery skills which encouraged them to come up with the unique concept of fusion attires with a regal feel. Synonymous to its name – Ruceru which is a Sanskrit word symbolizing “Shining” opened their doors to Kolkata in 2011.

The brand caters to the modern, confident women who are open to experimention with cuts, drapes, patterns, and designs. Be it a mother, daughter, boss lady, Ruceru caters to the women who celebrate freedom and who have the fashion aesthetics. The brand cherishes and celebrates every bit of womanhood through the beautiful and unique creations. The designers amalgamate all the varied emotions of a woman such as happiness, pain, love and discontentment to form the exclusive designs. Hence, women connect with the whole ensemble instantly as they find it a part of their own self in the garments. Ruceru is not just a fashion label but it has a deep connection with people on an emotional level.

The USP of the brand lies in conceiving the beautiful drapes and simplifying the traditional ethnic wear from the clutter. The brand does bridal wear with a twist and does not follow the conventional three piece rule. At Ruceru, the designers challenge themselves to come up with an Indian couture that not only is close to the Indian roots but also is contemporary and fashionable.

This flourishing fusion wear brand emphasizes on wearability and quality craftsmanship to create statement pieces. The brand deconstructs the traditional drapes and applies the creative surface development techniques, trying to bring together a perfect blend of artistry and wearability at the same time. Ruceru creates fine drapes with beautiful and flattering cuts which not only accentuates the body but is also classy at the same time. The brand creates feminine silhouettes with more organic draping techniques which provide a certain kind of ease and effortlessness to the whole ensemble. Fabrics such as crepe, chiffon, silk satin, silk habutai, raw silk are mostly used to create the statement pieces. The brand constantly aims to incorporate new embroidery techniques such as traditional zardozi work with metallic filing, 3D flower embroideries, threadwork butterfly appliqué are few of them.

The designer duo started with couture in 2010 and gradually introduced a prêt line as well. The brand’s prêt line is very different from their couture line. Hence, Ruceru is known for creating diffusion ensembles utilizing indigenous skills and structural simplicity to create an elegant blend of Indian culture & aesthetics.

Presently, the brand retails out from their flagship store in Kolkata and also retail through multi-designer stores across the country such as Elan (Ahmedabad), Angasutra (Hyderabad), Mairah (Pune), Collage (Chennai), Agaashe (New Delhi) and Annonym (Hyderabad).

The brand plans to launch their second flagship store in Mumbai by 2017-18.
